especially when there are many animations, like AoE3 sea battles in meteors or WC3 or 800 elephants in AoE2?

RTS animation depends more on the good processor dual-processor graphics card hearts. Go with Core2Duo and its performance is excellent. For graphs with everything you need to consider a graphics card with 512 MB PCI-Express slot.
